Nicholas Merrill founded Phreeli Wireless driven by a passion for open, secure, and private communication.
In 2004, as the owner of an Internet Service Provider, his life took a dramatic turn when he challenged a provision of the USA PATRIOT Act. His legal battle set a precedent, leading to key rulings that protected the First Amendment rights and privacy of countless individuals.
In the wake of his victory, he established the non-profit Calyx Institute that provides privacy information and tools for all.
Phreeli continues Nick’s mission, providing reliable wireless services that prioritize user privacy and security.
