Installing Your SIM

Follow the steps below to install a physical SIM card or activate an eSIM, depending on your device and service type.

Installing a Physical SIM Card

The installation of a SIM card may vary slightly depending on your phone’s design. Most modern phones include a removable tray accessible with a small tool.

  1. Turn off the phone.
  2. Eject the SIM tray. Locate the SIM tray ejection hole on the side (or occasionally the top/bottom) of the phone. Insert the SIM tool or a small pin/paperclip into the hole and push gently; the tray will pop out.
  3. Place the SIM card in the tray. The SIM card has a keyed (notched) corner so it fits in only one direction. Handle the sim card carefully. Try to avoid touching the gold contacts.
  4. Reinsert the tray into the phone.
  5. Turn on the phone.

Installing an eSIM

Before requesting an eSIM, verify with the manufacturer that your phone supports it. Ensure that you have a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or data) before installing an eSIM. The set up of an eSIM will depend on your phone’s software version. For recent versions of Android, the steps are as follows.

  1. Open Settings. Go to Network & Internet > SIMs
  2. Tap “Add SIM.”
  3. Scan the QR code provided by your carrier, or manually enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions and wait for activation.
  5. If you have dual SIMs, choose a default SIM for data, calls, and SMS.

  4. Scan the QR code provided by your carrier, or manually enter the details if prompted (SM-DP+ address and activation code).
