Installing Your SIM
Follow the steps below to install a physical SIM card or activate an eSIM, depending on your device and service type.
Installing a Physical SIM Card
The installation of a SIM card may vary slightly depending on your phone’s design. Most modern phones include a removable tray accessible with a small tool.
- Turn off the phone.
- Eject the SIM tray. Locate the SIM tray ejection hole on the side (or occasionally the top/bottom) of the phone. Insert the SIM tool or a small pin/paperclip into the hole and push gently; the tray will pop out.
- Place the SIM card in the tray. The SIM card has a keyed (notched) corner so it fits in only one direction. Handle the sim card carefully. Try to avoid touching the gold contacts.
- Reinsert the tray into the phone.
- Turn on the phone.

Installing an eSIM
Before requesting an eSIM, verify with the manufacturer that your phone supports it. Ensure that you have a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or data) before installing an eSIM. The set up of an eSIM will depend on your phone’s software version. For recent versions of Android, the steps are as follows.
eSIM on Android
- Open Settings. Go to Network & Internet > SIMs
- Tap “Add SIM.”
- Scan the QR code provided by your carrier, or manually enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and wait for activation.
- If you have dual SIMs, choose a default SIM for data, calls, and SMS.
eSIM on iPhone
- Update to the latest iOS. Make sure your iPhone is running the most recent version of iOS (go to Settings > General > Software Update).
- Open the Settings app. Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data, depending on your region).
- Tap “Add eSIM.” If you see an option to Add Cellular Plan, select that.
- Scan the QR code provided by your carrier, or manually enter the details if prompted (SM-DP+ address and activation code).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete activation. Wait for your iPhone to confirm the new plan is active.
- Choose your default line (if you have multiple SIMs). You can specify which plan you want to use for data, calls, and SMS.
